Global broadcaster ELEVEN SPORTS has secured a five-year agreement with FIBA to show LIVE and EXCLUSIVE coverage of three of the biggest events on the international basketball calendar.

ELEVEN SPORTS in Taiwan will show exclusively live coverage of every game from the men’s and women’s competitions of:

  • 2017 FIBA Asia Cup – Women’s event – India, 23-29 July / Men’s event – Lebanon, 8-20 August
  • FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 – China, 31 August-15 September
  • 2021 FIBA Asia Cup – Location and date TBC

Both the men’s and women’s tournaments of the 2017 Asia Cup will feature Chinese Taipei teams including local stars Liu Zheng, Chou Yi Xiang, Peng Shi Qing and Joy Pao – underlining ELEVEN’s commitment to its localised strategy to deliver top class content that is relevant to local fans.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China will be the biggest edition of FIBA’s flagship event with a record 32 participating teams playing 92 games over 16 days. It will be the first time the showpiece event is to be played in China – highlighting the growing popularity of basketball across the region.

“We are thrilled to bring world class basketball action to fans in Taiwan by securing this five-year agreement with FIBA,” said Danny Menken, Group Managing Director, ELEVEN SPORTS. “This is another great step forward for ELEVEN SPORTS that is perfectly aligned to our strategy to reach every fan with strong localised content that is popular in the domestic market.”

“Thanks to ELEVEN SPORTS, fans of Chinese Taipei’s men’s and women’s teams can look forward to watching their heroes in action over the next five years as well as enjoying some of the very best that national team basketball all around the world has to offer,” said Patrick Baumann, FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member.

ELEVEN SPORTS’ linear channels run alongside the network’s over the top (OTT) streaming service which has achieved rapid growth and tremendous success since its launch in Taiwan in January 2016. ELEVEN delivers almost 2,500 hours of LIVE premium sports content annually across all platforms.

Subscribers in Taiwan have a front row seat to the scintillating sports action available on ELEVEN SPORTS including LIVE and EXCLUSIVE coverage of the Premier League, Serie A TIM, the Emirates FA Cup, Cage Warriors, ATP World Tour 250 Tennis, the World Baseball Classic, Taiwan based CPBL baseball team ‘the Lamigo Monkeys’, the Chinese Basketball Association, and Badminton Asia Championships.
